5 IDEAS FOR USING CUSTOM ACCENT WALLS

Accent walls refer specifically to a wall that differs from the design of the others in the room. They can be a beautiful addition to the interior of the home that doesn’t require much work and will not take away space in your home. They can add texture, color, and light to any room if used properly. Here are a few ideas for using custom accent walls:

1. Wood

Wood, or shiplap, accent walls can be warm and inviting in living rooms or bedrooms. They offer the rich texture of wood without investing hundreds of dollars in using wood paneling all over your home.

Wood wall accents can be purchased at many homes supply stores for installation in your current home – or future custom home by a contractor. They add a simple and rustic feel without being overwhelming, or damaging, to the walls.

2. Stone

A stone accent wall can make almost any home look elegant and timeless. You can purchase stone specifically for this purpose, or you can have an installer come and handle construction for you. No matter what, be sure to use the proper sealant to avoid falling rocks in the kitchen or deterioration over time.

3. Stencil

Stenciling a pattern onto a wall can create an organized accent wall that matches your decor. With little effort, you can create the pattern by yourself, or purchase it in a store or online.

4. Paint

While it may seem somewhat basic compared to the other options above, a simple paint job will do the trick! It can add the most pop to your room – depending on the color and luster. Playing around with rich, dark colors is one of the popular fall decor trends and it can sometimes be a good choice for an accent wall.

The color of the accent wall may be based on the purpose of the room. For instance, you can use a cool color, like lavender or light blue, in your bedroom or bathroom to create a calm, clean feeling. In the kitchen or living room, you can use a warm or earthy tone, like red or brown, to create an inviting and comfy atmosphere.

5. Wallpaper

Wallpaper has reinvented itself in recent years and can be the perfect solution for an accent wall. The same traditional floral patterns exist, but now there are rich, captivating textures to choose from, too.

If you’re considering wallpaper, handmade or one-of-a-kind wallpaper can definitely make a room stand out. Before deciding on an accent wallpaper, be sure to look at all of your options.

These are just a few ideas for using custom accent walls. If you’re deciding what type of accent wall you want for your room, do plenty of research to make sure you find the perfect solution for you.
